Producer -- NYTimes.com
Position:
Produce enhanced multimedia versions of The New York Times
under
deadline for electronic
distribution. Add value as needed through additional content
or
creation of pointers to other sites.
Responsibilities
* Create news packages based on contents provided by specific
desks at The Times.
*Produce indexes and multi-media elements (slideshows).
*Write summaries and rewrite headlines for use on section
fronts.
*Find useful reference material (archive, forums, other sites)
and link to it.
*Create newsworthy forums or interactive chat events.
*Ensure consistency and accuracy of presentation, including
content, design and navigation.
*Produce and assist in editing of breaking news on deadline,
as
required.
*Be comfortable with change, learn the structure of our print
and
electronic publications, become
familiar with various packages, and adapt to the constant flow
of
news.
Requirements:
Solid computer skills and familiarity with online media,
including knowledge of HTML and
RAINMAN, Photoshop, Quark and other applications. Attention to
detail and ability to meet
deadlines in a daily production environment; writing, editing
and
research proficiency. Familiarity
with Photo and Multimedia production is a plus, as is
experience
working in a breaking news
environment. Ability to work flexible schedule, possibly
including nights and weekends.
Compensation:
New York Times Digital offers a salary commensurate with
experience, as well as a competitive
stock option and benefit plan.
